Okay- This is happened two weeks ago. I am slow! But Jared wasn't slow! He ran a 10 mile race and did awesome. He ran faster than his training time.
It was such a fun day for the family. The boys and I ran the 1 mile kid's race before. Landon legitimately beat me. He probably ran a 7:30 mile. He started at the back of the group of 100 or so kids and he finished in the top ten.
There was all-you-can-eat food from several vendors after the race---Ethan was in heaven and still continues to refer back to that "day where we got to eat all we wanted" as a "good day".
I have pictures of the kids in jackets and our fleece BYU blanket---It was a chilly 65 degrees that morning! We are so pathetic!
Speaking of kids who legitimately beat me---The day has come. My kids are both faster and smarter than I am---already! Tyler beat me at chess yesterday. He had me in check within three moves and continued chasing me down until he got me in check-mate. I only had one of his pawns. It was amazing. He was using all these terms like, "I skewered you" and working in combination moves. I had no idea what in the world he was talking about.
How fun! Wish we could have been at another race with you . . .or that the boys could play chess. We miss you.
ReplyDeleteJared, congrats on the 10 miles. That is far! Landon, a 7:30 mile--wow! Tyler, I bet you could beat me at chess, too.
ReplyDeleteSuch an inspirational family. ;)
ReplyDeleteWay to go Jared! Tyler must have some mad skills to "skewer" you like that.
